Laburnum Trees, detail
This exhibition tells a story of determination, endurance & survival, told though the shapes of the wild shrubs & trees growing on the Preseli mountain. Portraying Gorse bush with its distinctive pom-pom shaped bushy heads held high by intricate spindly trunks & intertwining roots, providing itself strength & support, adamant to survive. The Laburnum trees with their vibrant hue of dripping yellow protects the livestock beautifully despite their highly poisonous reputation and contradictory love potion properties. The guardianship of the Sycamore subject to seasonal brutal hacking, makes for a natural steadfast fence that gets stronger with each coppice's attack of the hatchet. The timeless magical presence that is easily felt here in the heart of the dramatic Preseli landscape is echoed by the majestic silhouettes of the time-worn tree ruins that chronicle the ancient history within their wooden hearts.
